Hi everyone! I have worked for the University of Idaho since 2012 but before that I was both an undergraduate and graduate student here. I did my traveling around in the summer while working as a wildland firefighter. In my 8 years working fire I traveled to all of the Western states and was also lucky enough to help The Nature Conservancy with prescribed burns in 3 eastern states. During my masters I studied the way that satellites view active fires by recruiting 100 different fire crews to take active fire observations.
In 2010 the challenge of fighting fires was replaced by the challenging of parenthood! I have three amazing children and try and get them involved with natural resources as much as possible. I love to learn almost as much as I love teaching - I am persuing a doctoral degree with the intent to improve training and education in wildland fire management. I am passionate about fire education and enjoy seeing the fire in my students as they learn about how they can make a difference in the broader world of fire ecology and management.
